I am forgetful

I started this full of good intentions, then my middle age brain decided to forget all about it! For those of you that come into the shop, this will be no surprise.

I'm at the shop today with not a lot to do, so decided to get the laptop out, rather than the sewing machine. I've been very busy making things this week, so I'm due a break.

I finally braved my first ever quilt! I've been sewing since I was a child but a blanket is not something I've ever tried. I think it's the accuracy of the cutting that has put me off, when making clothes, or crafting, I'm not particularly fussy. When it comes to the patchwork part of a blanket, you really need those squares to match.

I was lucky enough to have a cheat. I had been given a packet of 25cm x 25cm squares, a few years ago, but I've never quite worked out what to do with them...tada!

The squares went together really well, I'm so pleased. I backed it with some woven back fleece that I'm selling off at £2 per metre. I now have a large, multi coloured, double quilt size blanket. It's cosy, yet light weight, perfect for a topper in the winter, or a thin cover in the summer:

I took this picture in the evening, so it doesn't do the colours justice. You get the idea though.

I think the reason I'm sharing this, even though I've already shared it on my social media, is to encourage you to try. Not everything is going to be perfect, that's what stitch rippers are for. Just having a go at something can be freeing and any craft is so good for your mental health. Anything that takes your brain away from what's troubling you is a good thing, whether it's arts, crafts or exercise, keep giving it a go.

I haven't had any new fabric in this week but I forgot to share the last lot I had, on here. It was all about the browns:

Brown spot 100% cotton, £5 per metre

Brown gingham, £3.50 per metre

Ivory poly cotton, £3 per metre.

They are selling well already, so I'll definitely be keeping them in stock, more fabrics to come in February.

Much Love

  1. Hello,
I've come across your website after a quick little Chat GPT question. I don't live too far away and I'm hoping that you may have some fabric that I'm after. For world book day, I'm possibly going to dress up as Gingy the gingerbread character from Shrek. Do you sell suitable fabric like brown felt?
    With thanks and kind regards,
    Georgina
